Talking HF Tigers 5/23

Your weekly Talking HF Tigers is coming to you a day early as another special holiday edition. As a reminder there are no classes Friday, May 24 for an unused snow day. Schools will also be closed Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day and Tuesday, May 28 for another snow day giveback. I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend as we unofficially kick off Summer, and folks can return ready for the sprint to the finish of the academic year.

Thank You Voters

On May 21, Hudson Falls Central School District residents voted to approve the district’s 2024-25 proposed budget with 210 voting in favor and 73 voting against the $54,553,867 spending plan for the 2024-25 school year. It is affirming to see that our Hudson Falls community is supportive of our school district’s proposed plans and we are committed to providing students with as many opportunities as possible. The Board of Education and our administrative team are grateful for this vote of confidence from the people we serve.

Also congratulations to Heidi Andrejkovics and Crystal Grimaldi  who were re-elected to serve five-year terms on the Board of Education that run from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2029.

Science Symposium

The High School’s science research program is hosting its annual Science Research Symposium on Wednesday, May 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. The research course is a three year elective in which students choose a topic and carry out an original research project on that topic. During the student’s junior and senior years, he or she may elect to take the course for college credit for a total of up to twelve credits at the State University of New York. Our annual symposium is an opportunity for our research students to present their hard work throughout their time in the program. It will also feature keynote speaker Abrielle Swartz, HF Class of 2019 and Science Research Alumni. Abrielle is currently a PhD student at Clarkson University.

If you have a student who may be interested in the program or for more information on all things science research, check out their website!

New and Improved

The Hudson Falls High School will adopt a revised schedule for the 2024-2025 school year. The schedule itself will be the same format as the 2023-2024 school year with four blocks per day with half blocks built in for labs and PE known as “skinnies”. The main difference in the schedule will be in the start and end times at the high school. Doors will open at 7:20 a.m. and the first block will begin at 7:35 a.m. compared to the previous times of 7:30 and 8:01. Dismissal will be 1:59 for the conclusion of block 4 and depending on the student, extra support will be available until 2:30 known as “TigerTime”. For complete information on the schedule visit our website

Memorial Day: A Time for Reflection

Please take a moment during this five-day weekend to discuss as a family the meaning and purpose of Memorial Day. From our own Hudson Falls citizens to those from across the country who have made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives for our country, we must remember and remain grateful for our freedoms as a result.

For the many students and residents who will participate in the annual parade through Hudson Falls, good luck! Enjoy the sounds of our High School Marching Band as they honor service members who sacrificed everything in defense of our nation and freedoms.
