Dear Tiger Community,
The district learned today that a second member of the Hudson Falls High School community has tested positive for COVID-19. Our first priority is always the safety of all of our students, faculty, and staff. We are beginning a new three day pause on in-person instruction starting today, Dec. 11. Students in grades Pre-k through 8 will return to in-person/hybrid instruction on Wednesday, Dec. 16th.
Due to delays in contact tracing, as well as the high number of faculty and staff impacted, students in grades 9 through 12 will remain remote through the Christmas holiday break. High school students should log on to their google classrooms from their Chromebook to join synchronously for their C Day schedule beginning on Monday.
Please know that this was an incredibly difficult decision for everyone involved. Our goal all year has been to maximize the number of students safely learning in school. We know the importance of keeping our students in school, however, with the amount of high school staff impacted, we simply have to move to remote learning.
BOCES, Early College, and New Visions students may attend their classes in person. BOCES and Early College students will have school-provided transportation from Hudson Falls High School.
We will continue to update our high school families on more details regarding this extended move to remote learning in the coming days. We will post information to our website, as well as send you additional emails.
If any student needs a meal during the pause, please come to the cafeteria entrance on the Franklin Street side of the High School. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Please note that New York State and Federal privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.
I want to thank those of you who have continued to follow guidelines and protocols both in and out of school. Thank you for your continued partnership to keep our school community safe through wearing masks, staying socially distant, and following proper hand hygiene.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jon Hunter, Interim Superintendent
