Dear 8th Grade Families:
As we near the end of the 2020-2021 school year, I would like to share with you our plans to celebrate the success and accomplishments of our 8th-grade students in the form of a Moving Up Ceremony. This ceremony marks the beginning of the transition for your child from the middle-level program to high school.
The Moving Up Ceremony will take place on June 8, 2021, for the white group and June 10, 2021, for the green group in the high school Auditorium at 10:00 am. Virtual Students are invited to attend the ceremony in person. We request that virtual students who plan to attend, contact Mr. Shaw at (518) 681-4314 or by email at jshaw3@hfcsd.org by May 26, 2021, to confirm their interest in attending. Mr. Shaw will provide further information to our virtual students regarding which ceremony they will attend and the details behind the pickup and drop-off.
During the ceremony, certificates of achievement will be presented, students who received awards will be recognized, and the middle school yearbook will be distributed. All 8th-grade students are invited to participate in this ceremony. This invitation does not guarantee that your child will be promoted to the 9th grade for the 2021-22 school year.
Due to the pandemic and the restrictions on capacity set forth by the Department of Health and the CDC, the Moving-Up Ceremony will be attended in person by students and staff only. Families will be invited to view the ceremony via live stream or watch it at their convenience. The recording will be uploaded on the Middle School Web Page or the District’s YouTube Channel shortly following the Ceremony.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a special thank you to the Middle School Parent Teacher Student Organization for sponsoring this ceremony and providing yearbooks to all of our 8th-grade students.
Additionally, I would like to thank our parents and families for all of their support and understanding during this unprecedented school year. I congratulate you and your student on this wonderful achievement and share in your excitement as we celebrate this milestone.
