Hudson Falls Wellness Committee Presents Heart Healthy Tips For March!
Do you ever stop and think about your sleeping habits? Some of us may question, ‘what sleep?’ while others are very attuned to their
sleeping patterns. March is ‘National Sleep Awareness Month.’ According to https://hudsonphysicians.com/sleep/ “sleep is crucial for
your health in many ways because it affects brain function, energy levels during the day, hormonal balance, and the ability for the
body to repair itself. Are you sleep-deprived, or are you in tune with your circadian rhythm?” Circadian rhythm is the body’s own
internal clock. It affects your brain, body, and hormones, helping you stay awake and telling your body when it’s time to sleep
(healthline.com). In order to be at your best and maintain a healthy lifestyle your body needs proper rest. Here are a just a few tips
on getting proper rest according to Healthline:
1. Daily sunlight or artificial bright light can improve sleep quality and duration, especially if you have severe sleep issues or insomnia.
2. Put the phone away, shut the tv off or wear glasses that block the blue light.
3. Limit caffeine in the late afternoon and evening hours.
4. If you’re lucky enough to catch a little nap in the afternoon, try skipping it to see if your nighttime sleep improves.
5. Set your bedroom temperature according to your body and be sure the sleeping environment is quiet and dark.
6. Relax before bedtime to unwind. Take a bath or shower and develop a nighttime routine to prepare your body for sleep.
Mouthguard Awareness
Another important awareness that March is known for: Mouthguard Awareness. With spring sports on the way, it is important to
have a well fitting mouth guard for your athlete. Mouthguards are worn to protect teeth and lips but also prevent other oral injuries. Be
sure your athlete, if they are required or even recommended to, have a mouthguard and have it fitted appropriately. Ask your child’s coach for
further information.

Donations at the door. (In other words, “pay what you will.” No charge for tickets this year, but we hope people will donate to offset
the production costs. Despite trimming costs where we could, donations are much needed and appreciated.)
“Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the
Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.
With the house lights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a
fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in
two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two
gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an
evening of madcap delight.”
This is the first show to be produced on our stage since the shutdown of Jekyll & Hyde two years ago at the advent of Covid-19. In
some ways, it is a relaunch of the drama program. When we originally planned the show, we were operating under restrictions on
audience size due to social-distancing requirements. The original plan was to play only to an audience of family/friends of the cast.
Now, we have added an additional performance and can welcome more audience into the auditorium.
The cast includes both high-school and middle-school students. It’s fun, funny, and brisk, running under two hours even with intermission.
Community Event April 9th
April 9th 10:00-12:00 Hudson Falls Schools will be hosting a community event. During this time you will be introduced to numerous small businesses
in our area in addition to those who help keep our roads safe, our community’s emergency responders. We will also have the opportunity to learn
more about resources in our area as well as learn about the dairy industry with our own Washington County Dairy Princess, Katie Larmon. There will
also be large trucks, tractors (both large and small) on display for the adults and children to learn about. This will be free and open to everyone.
Please schedule this event on your calendar–there will be fun and learning opportunities. A huge thank you to all the community members who are volunteering for this event
