Dear Tiger Families,
There is no question that this has been a very difficult week across our entire school community and all of Hudson Falls as we come to terms with the unexpected death of Johnny Barbieri. We cannot begin to adequately express our true appreciation and love for him and his entire family. We as a Tiger Family, however, have shown in the last week yet again what is foundational to us as a community – lifting up and supporting our families and each other in difficult times.
From the “Blue Out” on Friday that showed waves of students, faculty, and staff wearing a color that represented Coach Barbieri’s life and interests, to the still-growing fund to support his family, I know we will continue to be there for one another and his family
Gratitude and Attendance
We have classes scheduled and schools open on Monday and Tuesday before we go on Thanksgiving Break Nov. 23-27 (school resumes Monday, Nov. 28). While I know the majority of our students will be in class for those two days next week, I want to re-emphasize the importance of attending school every day it is offered.
While I am grateful for the attention our “Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow” efforts has generated in the last few months, we still have a long way to go to lessen our chronic absenteeism and the long-term negative effects it has on so many of our students.
I ask you, families, to encourage your students to be ready and present on Nov. 21 and 22. Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education!
Got Sneakers, Got Spirit? Sign Ups for This Sunday’s Run Can Still Happen!
The Hudson Falls Teachers Association and the HF Rotary Club are teaming up to bring back some of our most beloved traditions. The Operation Santa Claus 5K and The Tony Luciano Run are now combined into one run happening Sunday, Nov. 20. Race day registration is $30 and will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m at the high school prior to the 10:00 a.m. race. Proceeds from the event will benefit Operation Santa and the HF Rotary Club scholarship fund. Lace up, Tigers!
Hometown Holiday Celebration – Donate to Help Decorate! And Attend Dec. 2!
Santa Claus is coming to town early, Dec. 2 and all are invited to what promises to be a spectacular (short!) parade followed by a “rescue” of Santa (shhhh .. don’t tell the youngest of our family members!). This is the rebirth of what was a formerly long-standing tradition years ago and decorations are needed. If you can contribute, make checks payable to The Hudson Falls Christmas Committee and send them to: 220 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
Have a great weekend,
Dan Ward, Superintendent
