Selecting the individuals who provide the overarching leadership in each of our schools is not just the superintendent’s decision, but made by representatives from across the school community. Ensuring we provide a principal who can meet the needs of students, families, and staff can be daunting. But in the instance of finding our new high school principal, Jessica Hogan simplified the process. Mrs. Hogan epitomizes what we are as a Tiger community and what we want to provide for all students. Hudson Falls HS Principal: Jessica Hogan Expected to be Appointed
We are pleased to announce the intention to appoint Jessica Hogan as the next Hudson Falls High School Principal at the June 13 Board of Education meeting (full press release). Mrs. Hogan is currently the assistant principal at the High School. Mrs. Hogan has 17 years experience, all within HFCSD, including the last two years as assistant principal at the High School. And her response to this pending appointment speaks volumes as to why she was the right choice.
“It has been a pleasure working alongside Mr. Bennefield and I look forward to building on the foundations he has established for our students and families of the high school,” Mrs. Hogan said. “In conjunction with faculty, staff, students, parents, and the Board of Education, we will support and expand the unique and meaningful high school experiences to set our students up for success in life. I am a Tiger, wholly invested in the success of this community. I have spent my entire career in education at Hudson Falls, I am a resident of Hudson Falls and a proud parent of a student in Hudson Falls. ”
Mrs. Hogan resides in Hudson Falls with her husband P.J., their daughter Lola and her step-daughter Reagan. When she’s not at school you can find her and her family hiking, reading, traveling, and rooting for the Boston Red Sox.
Community Service Recognition
The Adirondack Area School Boards Association honored students from around the area for their outstanding work in the field of community service during a May 18 ceremony at The Queensbury Hotel. The group of 29 students included two of Hudson Falls’ very own, Maggie Potvin and Alex Mulvey. They each received a $350 award for their hard work outside the classroom. Alex and Maggie are both members of NHS and have made a strong commitment to community service. I encourage you to read the list of their endeavors!
Congratulations to the 2023 Honor Graduates!
Our annual Honors Graduation Award Ceremony earlier this week was a chance for families to attend and celebrate with the 39 students who maintained a minimum of 90 percent grade point average since 9th grade. For this particular class of honor grads, it was particularly challenging to earn this success as well-rounded individuals who spent a portion of their sophomore and junior years under the pandemic restrictions.
It is important for you to know that we are extremely proud of all of our students’ academic achievements and other accomplishments this past year. TEAMTIGER will be working hard to ensure all students are celebrated at whatever level they made progress or experienced success during the 2022-23 school year.
We Need Your Help: Only Takes 90 Seconds Per Student, Benefits Students
HFCSD needs to meet a certain threshold of responses for its annual Digital Equity Survey so we can provide the best educational technology possible. This survey will provide information on student access to devices and internet access in their places of residence.
The New York State Education Department requires we ask parents or guardians to complete this survey for each K-12 student in your family. Didn’t we already ask you to complete this survey? Yes. Several times. We had asked in October, and again in March. NYSED would like us to push for additional responses to get a more complete picture. It truly benefits students. The Survey. Thank you!
Memorial Day: A Time for Reflection
Please take a moment during this three-day weekend to discuss as a family the meaning and purpose of Memorial Day. From our own Hudson Falls citizens to those from across the country who have made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives for our country, we must remember and remain indebted.
