High School Student Council in the Spirit of Giving
The Hudson Falls High School Student Council and National Honor Society (NHS) joined forces over the month of November to provide Thanksgiving meals to several families in the district. With five different buildings in the school district, the student leaders in both organizations saw an opportunity to unite the community in the service of others. Now, with the rest of the holiday season ahead of us and there are still people in need, it is time to switch gears. Our student council was able to make a $1,000 donation to Operation Santa Claus and a $500 donation to Toys for Girls and Boys. All of their efforts are for the benefit of the Hudson Falls school community, with these donations assisting some of our families in need for the holidays. Thank you for your commitment to our community!
Food For Thought
No child should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, or try to learn on an empty stomach. “Food for Thought” is a charitable organization run through O’Brien’s Angels that works to get food to those needing assistance in schools throughout Warren and Washington Counties. Inspired and started by Kelly Stevens, a teacher’s aide at Kensington Road Elementary School, the development of the program developed organically after noticing students coming in without enough food to get through the school day. Now, they are asking for our help to keep this program going. The current need is approximately 11,000 snacks per month, in 14 local districts including Hudson Falls. They accept all donations at O’Brien Insurance Agency, 83 Bay St in Glens Falls or Hilltop Construction, 21 Casey Rd, Queensbury.
