This week we honor a basketball player who hit a career milestone and a cheerleader who is a sky-high athlete!
First up is Riley Maddison, a Hudson Falls senior and five-year varsity basketball player who scored his 1,000th career point at the Feb. 4 home game against Scotia-Glenville.
“Riley is an outstanding athlete all around – on and off the court, as well as on the field as member of our football and baseball teams,” said Varsity Basketball Coach Gregory Smith.
To become a 1,000-point scorer, a player needs to have a consistency to their game, and either be a very good player from a young age or be a volume scorer. Riley is both, according to Smith. Riley is currently averaging 12.5 points per game this season.
Also honored this week is Kerrigan Lapointe, a sophomore on the varsity cheerleading squad. Kerrigan is a flyer on the team.
“Kerrigan attends every practice and puts 110% into everything she does. She is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best she can be academically and athletically. She is also a silent leader on the team. We can always count on her to know what’s going on and when and is a positive role model for the newer members of the team,” said Varsity Cheerleading Coach Trish Ten Eyk.
Congratulations to this week’s winners!
