On Tuesday, October 31, juniors and seniors will attend an assembly about the dangers of distracted driving. “Hang up and Drive” is the program presented by the husband and wife team, Steve Johnson and Jacy Good. Johnson and Good became public speakers and advocates for phone-free roads after an automobile crash that claimed the lives of Jacy’s parents and left her partially paralyzed. The crash was caused by a distracted driver and through Jacy’s miraculous recovery, the couple has dedicated themselves to educating the country about the dangers of phone use behind the wheel, speaking at over 1,500 events in 43 states and 3 countries. Less than a year after the tragedy, Jacy began campaigning in her native state of Pennsylvania for a cell phone ban while driving. This led to an overwhelming number of media requests and appearances including The Oprah Winfrey Show, and People Magazine, sparking the tour that will be presented to our students.
The presentation will take place from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. in the auditorium and students are being asked to NOT use their early dismissal or open campus to attend this important event.
