Interim Supt Hunter on NYS Travel Guidelines

Dear Tiger Community,

We know that this school year has been called many things…different, challenging, and ever-changing, just to name a few! To help all of us navigate the “new normal,” we wanted to share with you a few changes that New York State has made to rules around interstate travel.

Governor Cuomo announced on March 11th that travelers will no longer be required to quarantine upon returning from domestic travel, as of April 1st. Quarantine is still required for international travelers, and travelers are still required to complete a New York State Traveler Health form.

This means that any employees or students traveling within the continental U.S. for April vacation can, and should, rejoin their regularly scheduled educational day on Monday, April 12th, as long as they feel well and have no symptoms of COVID-19. Mask-wearing 100% of the time in our buildings and buses, temperature checks, and social distancing are still required for everyone learning or working in-person throughout our district. In addition, we are strongly encouraging staff and students to use our Good2BeBack app to report their status each day.

Even with the new rules in place, please monitor all members of your family for signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Do not come to school if you or your child have any symptoms of illness.

We all want our classroom doors to remain open. Together, if we are following NYS and Washington County Department of Health guidelines, we can continue to do just that.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience in keeping our school community healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Jon Hunter, Interim Superintendent
