Hudson Falls Central School District is happy to welcome back Officer Ryan Woodward, known affectionately around the district as “Woody”, as a district School Resource Officer (SRO). Officer Woodward was raised in Hudson Falls and graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 2007. During his high school years he was a two-sport standout athlete in football and wrestling. As a senior Ryan was selected as a Section 2 football team all-star and was named captain of the team. In wrestling he won a Section 2 championship at 215 pounds and earned All-State honors by placing 6th at the NYSPHSAA wrestling tournament in the 215 pound weight class.

Following graduation he attended SUNY Cortland where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminology and computer technology. During his time at Cortland he broke multiple college records in competitive powerlifting.

Ryan returned to his hometown after finishing college and joined the Hudson Falls Police Department in 2012 as a dispatcher and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2016. Ryan made the decision to step down as patrol sergeant to work with our students in a full-time capacity and give back to his hometown school district. As SRO, Officer Woodward is a member of the Hudson Falls Police Department but serves the district 12 months a year and oversees emergency response to all local community partners to help maintain safety and security for all students, faculty and staff.

“Officer Woodward is an integral part of our school community and his ability to connect with students makes him a welcome sight in our buildings for students,” explains High School Principal Jessica Hogan. “ We are so thankful for his investment in our Tiger Community to always be willing to go above and beyond the scope of the job.”

Please join us in thanking Officer Woodward for his service if you happen to see him at one of our school buildings.
