Talking HF Tigers 1/19

Attendance in school is vital to success and we have emphasized the importance of attendance often. It is also the time of year when we see increases in illness throughout our schools and it is equally important to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all. Communication with the Health Office can help confirm whether your student should stay home with illness. Please visit our health services page which offers guidelines and contact information to assist in our effort for healthy learning environments.

Science Research

Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) is a Department of Defense sponsored STEM program for high school students enrolled in grades 9-12 who engage in research investigations in the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).

Two of our Science Research seniors, Lucy Ray and Marysa Colvin, have been selected to present at the Sub-Regional Eastern JSHS competition Saturday, January 27 at Taconic Hills. For this competition, they are expected to present in front of a panel of researchers to defend their 3 years worth of unique research. Their project titles are:

  • Lucy Ray – “Sensory Stimulation as an Academic Intervention in High School Students”
  • Marysa Colvin – “Maladaptive Daydreaming and its Effect on High Schoolers’ Executive Functioning”

We wish both of these students the best and thank them for proudly representing Hudson Falls and the Science Research program.

Benefit for Evangeleanah Marshall

Evangeleanah Marshall is a student at the Intermediate School in Miss Canavan’s class with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She has undergone four open heart surgeries and is now awaiting a heart transplant. Evangeleanah is currently at Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York City with her mother awaiting a transplant. The family is holding a fundraiser to help offset expenses.  As in times past, we wanted to pass along and share as part of our Tiger Family.

MS Teen Night

Team Oneonta is hosting a teen night at the middle school tonight 1/19, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. It is open to all HFMS students 6th – 8th grade. Tickets are $3 and will be sold at the door. We hope to see many students attend. There will be an open gym, a movie playing, games, snacks, and more.

Community Tailgate Change

Due to some athletic schedule changes our community tailgate is moving from Thursday, January 25 to Friday, January 26. The community tailgate event will take place in the parking lot on the Franklin St. side of the high school. From 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Nutrition Staff will be serving  hot dogs, chips, water, along with hot cocoa, free of charge to everyone who attends the event. There will be a tent to stay out of the winter wind and a heater inside the tent. The event is supporting the Girls Basketball senior night vs. Queensbury and we invite everyone out for this pre-game event with fun games and food.
