Talking HF Tigers 12/15

Happy Friday! It was a great week to be a Tiger. As I see so many dressed up as their favorite holiday movie characters, I would like to thank you for the continued support you give to the Wells Family! In conjunction with the other efforts our district has made to raise money for a wheelchair-accessible van for student Adam Wells, students and staff planned for today to be “Dress As Your Favorite Holiday Movie Character Day” across our five school buildings. Participants were asked to bring in a $1 donation. Thanks to the generosity of this community $3,185.86 was raised!

Please be reminded that the holiday recess for the Hudson Falls Central School District will begin on Thursday, December 21. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 2. As a result of Holiday break, next week’s Talking HF Tigers will be distributed on Wednesday, December 20.

Holiday Concerts in the New Auditorium

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the concerts put on by our High School Choir and Band and our 6-8 Orchestra and 7-8 Choir this week. Both concerts were held in the newly-dedicated auditorium to Ms. Joyce Irwin at the high school. Irwin was a music teacher, choir director, musical director and head of the music department in our district during the 40 years she worked here. She taught the love of song to multiple generations of students. The auditorium space is where she devoted a large portion of her life to making Hudson Falls one of the best music departments in the area. We are happy that her influence will live on as the auditorium continues to be a place for students to exercise their musical talents.

All Hudson Falls Fall Athletic Teams Recognized for Academic Achievement

We are happy to share that ALL of our Fall Varsity athletic teams were recognized as NYSPHSAA scholar-athlete teams! To achieve this honor, 75% of the team’s first quarter GPA, when averaged together, must be above a 90. Congratulations to our Boys and Girls Cross Country, Girls Tennis, Girls Swimming and Diving, Football, Girls Volleyball, Girls Soccer, Game Day Cheerleading, Golf, Boys Soccer teams! Hudson Falls also had 80 Varsity athletes who achieved a first-quarter average of 90 or better and received individual scholar athlete pins. We are proud of our students for their great efforts on and off the field!
