On Wednesday evening, our Capital Project Proposal was approved by the residents of Hudson Falls with 258 “yes” votes to 196 “no” votes. I would like to thank the Hudson Falls community for your continued support of our school district and its future. The Board of Education along with all stakeholders are ready to move forward with this project to further enhance the learning environment at the Hudson Falls Central School District. You can read more about the contents of our capital project here.
A reminder that there is no school tomorrow, March 29, and spring break follows with no classes from April 1st through April 5th. Enjoy your time away!
One Last Sound Off
Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of The Sound of Music. While unfortunately the Saturday performance was canceled due to the snow, our incredible students and staff made up for it with memorable performances on both Friday and Sunday. A sincere thank you to our buildings and grounds crew for their efforts to get Sunday’s performance off as scheduled.
Writer’s Block
NY Times Best Selling Author April Henry visited Hudson Falls on Monday, March 25. Hailing all the way from Portland, Oregon, Ms. Henry offered up a day filled with two assemblies and a Writing Workshop for our High School students. She was genuinely impressed with our community of readers and creative writers. Visit her website for more information: www.AprilHenry.com.
Solar Eclipse
Monday, April 8th is the day we return from spring break. It is also the day of the solar eclipse. School will be in session for a regular school day and the district will provide eclipse glasses for students and staff members. Buildings will be dismissed at their normal times and all after-school activities will be conducted inside until 4:45 p.m. Please review with your child the importance of eye safety and why they view the eclipse using the glasses provided. Ordinary sunglasses are NOT safe for looking at the sun. More safety tips and information on the solar eclipse can be found here.
Take a Break
Spring break has arrived and I am sure it is a welcomed chance to vacation, rest, and recharge for the final stretch of the school year. While many people will take this opportunity for a vacation out of town, those remaining locally may want to take advantage of opportunities being offered in and around town.
Washington County tourism is a great place to check for local adventures with the Hudson Falls Public Library hosting several spring break activities for all ages.
