Talking HF Tigers 4/12

I hope everyone enjoyed their break and returned this week with energy and excitement as we progress into Spring. Last weekend the district hosted the Remote Area Medical clinic at the High School and I wanted to take a minute to thank all of the volunteers, non profit groups, and especially our Buildings and Grounds and Nutrition staff, who helped make it a success for the community. Thanks to the RAM clinic, members of our community were able to receive free dental and vision services. While completely free for patients the estimated value of these services rendered exceeded $150,000 and provided care for over 300 individuals.

Purple Up

On Wednesday, April 17 we encourage everyone in the district to wear purple in collaboration with Purple Up for Military Kids Day. A day being celebrated across New York State. When a person serves the nation through the military, his or her family also serves. Service takes true commitment and sacrifice from all members of military families. We would like to recognize students of military families in our district and across the nation by wearing Purple.

Purple combines each branch’s colors into one: the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard all use shades of blue, the Army uses green, and the Marines use red.

Snow Time

On Tuesday the Board Of Education accepted my recommendation to amend the school calendar to add two additional school holidays on Friday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 28. Please be advised that these additional school holidays are dependent on having no emergency closures between now and the date of the additional holidays. If there is an emergency closing that occurs between now and the date of the additional holidays the holidays will be canceled and school will be in session.

Shave the Day

Today at the High School our Student Council hosted its annual St.Baldrick’s day pep rally raising money for childhood cancer. It is remarkable to see the students and staff come together for such a worthy cause that also spreads school spirit in addition to fundraising. While the event has already taken place you can still help the fundraising efforts by using the following link. Way to go Tigers!
