Talking HF Tigers 4/29

Hello Tiger Family,

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break, and are recharged and ready for the homestretch of the school year. We hope you are excited, as we are, for the return of many of our great annual events. We also have some key dates approaching as we work toward the finish line of this challenging year.

On Tuesday, May 17, our Hudson Falls Central School District residents will vote on a $49,274,802 proposed budget for the 2022-23 school year. Voters will also vote on:

  • two Board of Education seats;
  • a $375,000 proposition to purchase four school buses; and
  • a proposition to establish a capital reserve fund with the ultimate amount of such fund to be $250,000 for future capital project expenditures.

For more information about the budget vote and propositions visit our website. Also, keep an eye out for our budget newsletter – it will begin hitting all residents’ mailboxes the week of May 2.

At the high school, our students and staff raised almost $3,000 for the St. Baldricks Foundation, supporting childhood cancer research. A special thanks to the Student Council for organizing this school wide event, and our top shavees Devon Ringer and Aidan Shaw for their combined $874 raised.

Elementary schools across the district teamed up with The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. A total of 982 students volunteered their time to read and earn donations, raising an astounding $10,438. Our top readers were able to “silly string” their principals and video proof can be found on our facebook page, with the Kindergarten Center being featured on the local news.

This Saturday, April 30 at 4:30 p.m. our juniors will kick-off prom season, holding the coronation ceremony, before heading off for a memorable and safe night. Attending prom is a highlight of students’ high school experience and we are particularly happy to see its return.

Continuing a busy weekend at the high school, the Luciano Track Invitational is also Saturday, April 30, starting at 9 a.m.  The track and field will be full of participants from all over the area, hosting some of the best track and field athletes, but most importantly – Go Tigers!

And remember Tiger Family – Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow! Read about the Attendance Campaign on how to be eligible for awards.

Sincerely,

Dan Ward, Superintendent
